미국 유학정보 - 에클레시아 대학 #3 토플(TOEFL) 점수 - Information of Studying in the US - Ecclesia College #3 TOEFL Score

  대부분의 미국 대학교가 비 영어권 유학생들에게 토플 점수를 요구하고 있습니다. 에클레시아 대학교도 입학 조건으로 토플 점수를 요구하고 있구요 최소 요구점수는 PBT기준 500점이며 이는 ETS에서 제공하는 환산 테이블을 기준으로 iBT 61점입니다.
토플 점수가 면제되는 기준은 다음과 같습니다.(학교 홈페이지에는 PBT 550점으로 나와있으나 500점이상이면 가능합니다.)

1. 미국내 다른 학교에서 Transfer(한국어로 하면 대충 편입 정도의 의미)하는 경우
2. 모국어가 영어이고 고등학교에서 영어로 수업받고 졸업한 경우
3. 고등학교에서는 영어로 배웠으나 모국어가 영어가 아닌 경우(GPA 2.0 이상이어야 함. 추후 COMPASS 시험을 봐야 함)

아래의 경우에는 토플 점수가 필요합니다.

1. 모국어가 영어가 아니고 고등학교에서도 영어로 배우지 않은 경우
2. 모국어는 영어이나 고등학교에서 영어로 수업받지 않은 경우

  그러나 에클레시아 대학교는 유학생들이 편히 입학할 수 있도록 가을학기(매년 8월 중순, 미국은 한국과 달리 가을학기가 시작 학기임) 입학시 토플 점수를 면제해주고 있습니다. 그렇다고 ABC밖에 모르는 학생을 받아줄 수는 없겠죠? 저의 개인적인 추천사항은 토익기준으로 700점 이상은 받을 수 있는 영어 실력을 갖추고 오는 것을 추천합니다.

  영어 점수가 토플밖에 안되냐? 그건 아닙니다. 에클레시아 대학교 홈페이지에는 나와있지 않지만 IELTS나 서울대에서 개발한 TEPS의 경우에도 가능합니다. TEPS는 제가 한국 학생들을 위해 특별히 학교에 추천을 했습니다 ^^ IELTS는 5.5~6.0이상, TEPS는 토플 환산표를 참고하면 436~441점이라고 하네요.

  Most of University and College in the States demand TOEFL score to international students for enrollment and Ecclesia College, too. The minimum score is 500 of PBT(Paper-based Test) and it's same as 61 of iBT(Internet-based Test) according to the conversion table from ETS.org.

These students are not needed TOEFL score:

1. To transfer from another college/university in the States to EC.
2. Student attended high school where courses are taught in English and primary language spoken at home is English.
3. Student attended high school where courses are taught in English but primary language spoken at home is not English.(pending cumulative GPA is 2.0 or better. Compass testing will determine placement.)

These students are needed TOEFL score in this case:

1. Student attended high school where courses are not taught in English and primary language spoken at home is not English
2. Student attended high school where courses are not taught in English but primary language spoken at home is English

But Ecclesia College offers TOEFL waiver to students who are willing to come to EC on Fall semester but students who want to get waiver have to have good English skills to take classes. Personally, I recommend students to get 700 of TOEIC score at least.

Is there another option except TOEFL? Yes, there is. EC website doesn't tell but EC will accept IELTS score instead of TOEFL. The minimum score of IELTS is 5.5~6.0.
